Developing Fluency
In this program, students become fluent readers: they learn to read more smoothly, quickly, and easily. Reading fluently is the most important skill second graders learn. It allows them to devote their full attention to the story, which leads to stronger comprehension and a love of reading. In each class, the teacher leads students in fluency training exercises. Video CompanionsYour child will receive The Adventures of Snail at School to keep and read at home, as well as an interactive instructional DVD that accompanies the book. The DVD includes a highly engaging feature called Fluent Reading with Bookman, in which a reading superhero named Bookman helps students practice reading fluently in passages from the book.
