In class, your child will listen to the teacher read aloud from classic picture books. When children listen to these wonderful stories read aloud, they enter into the world of the story and imaginatively participate in the characters' adventures. This experience fosters a love of books and reading, and will provide motivation for learning to read. In addition to listening to stories read aloud, your child will participate in comprehension-building discussions and enjoyable book enrichment activities, such as acting out stories.

You will receive a Reading Development Booklist that will help you choose wonderful books for reading aloud, now and throughout kindergarten. The booklist lists and describes dozens of picture books, as well as simple books for when your child begins to sound out words.

The teacher will read aloud from these classic picture books in class.
